Prior to creating the Institute, Ms. Alphonso served in various management positions that included, Grants Specialist at the Institute for Youth Development (IYD), the Executive Director of the Maryland Governor’s Council on Adolescent Pregnancy (GCAP) within the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth, and Familie and Juvenile Justice Specialist with the Governor’s Office of Crime, Control, & Preventions.

With her diverse professional experience, Ms. Alphonso has established a unique expertise in both the public and private arenas, at the local, state, and federal levels while maintaining a strong presence in and relationship with the community.

SPEAKER : Marian D. Daniel, B.S., M.P.A

Marian D. Daniel, B.S., M.P.A. is a practitioner and administrator who has spent more than thirty years providing services to pre-adjudicated and delinquent youth and their families throughout the state of Maryland.

Ms. Daniel is currently serving as the Program Manager for the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services where she is the administrator for the Quality Assurance and Gender Responsive Services for Girls Unit. Her duties include, but are not limited to ensuring the implementation and follow through on special monitoring reports and the articulated responsive actions for the Department. Ms. Daniel has also served in various positions with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services. She has served as the Area Director for Baltimore City Department of Juvenile Services, the Assistant Area Director, Juvenile Counselor Supervisor as well as a Juvenile Counselor.

We are a pprinciple-centered coaching organization whose focus is to grow and develop others through innovative and timely programs. Because our mission is to value and respect our clients and their beliefs, we refrain from compromising at the clients’ expense and are dedicated to helping our clients reach and exceed their expectations with clarity, action and focus.

SPEAKER : Tonya Johnson

Tonya Johnson is a Community Health Educator supervisor and Director of Health Education and Outreach for the Baltimore City Health Department Bureau of Adolescent and Reproductive Health. Ms. Johnson has been working in the field of sexuality, teen pregnancy prevention and youth development for over 25 years. Over the past sixteen years, she has been working at the Baltimore City Health Department Healthy Teens and Young Adults Center, a reproductive health center for teens and young adults ages 10-24. Ms. Johnson is a graduate of Towson State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in School & Community Health Science. She has been a certified Health Education Specialist since 1989 and has over twenty years of professional careers in health care with experience in program management, project planning/development, personnel training/supervision, community organization and public speaking/presentation. Ms. Johnson is the proud mother of a 22-year-old daughter, Tiffany, a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a 19-year-old son, Jonathan, studying nursing at the Community College of Baltimore County.
